Vacay in Pictures

Here's a little Michigan vacation wrap up in pictures, mostly for the grandparents...

Buddy Boy and Sweetpea at the lakeside "beach" near Grandma and Grandpa's... they LOVED finding snail shells, and poor Gary got attacked by some vicious horse flies. It was beautiful weather!!

Catching minnows with Grandma... these desert babies were not used to the humidity (their desert Momma wasn't either!!)

You can take the girl out of the city, but not the city out of the girl... Sweetpea wearing her new "pancy" shoes on a Target run...

So much fun at the Great Wolf Lodge in Traverse City... SOOOOO much to do for families including an indoor scavenger hunt (with a magic "Magi" wand), indoor water park, ice cream shop, and more... it was a ton of fun! (and yes... I realize I'm the only one not looking at the camera in the picture above... oh well, it's the only picture of the four of us from our trip... typical)

Sweetpea crashed out in Daddy's arms waiting for dinner... I guess that's what two days without a nap and 3 hours of waterpark fun will do to a gal.

3:22 a.m.

So I'm up, for the third night in a row, with some sort of super strength, pregnancy-induced, pseudo-insomnia. So what's a gal to do... eat the kids' left over quesadilla from dinner and catch up on my blog reading. Duh.

Perhaps by the time the sun comes up, I'll fall asleep for a few short moments before Sweetpea wanders in to stare at me and then ask for some "seer-ul" (i.e. "cereal"). Happy Friday.

Thank You For Being a Friend

So today news broke that Rue McClanahan from the Golden Girls passed away. The theme song has been playing all day on the news and radio. I busted out (unexpectedly, I might add) in song and quickly realized, much to my embarrassment, that I know the song lyrics, in their entirety. Gary ran from the room yelling, "I don't even know you!" My extensive Golden Girls knowledge must be one reason I was a social pariah in high school.

I blame my mother for this, Blanche Devereaux was always her favorite. And Pam, don't even try to deny it.

Ice Ice, Baby

This is a re-post from last July, but boy its getting hot here in the desert. We're doing this again tomorrow!

I found an incredibly cute, fun, easy, and FREE activity for The Crazies on one of my favorite blogs. We tried it last night, and I am not exaggerating when I report that it kept Goofball and Sweetpea occupied for over 2 hours (with a dinner break in there somewhere).

Just gather some waterproof toys from around the house. Place in a large bowl. Fill with water and freeze overnight. Give some appropriate "tools" for excavating the treasures, and let them go to work!
