Hurricane Isaac

Early Saturday morning, Isaac hit Haiti.  The picture below is at Good Neighbor.  The wall that fell separated the orphanage with the land next door.  It crushed two of the picnic tables in the eating area.  No one was hurt, and most of the children slept through the night!

We know it could have been much worse, and it was much worse for so many others. Please pray for those in Haiti who didn't weather the storm as well as GNO... those without homes, those who are still living in tents, or houses without a roof at all.

Tangible Signs

Let's just keep it real for a moment.  Life for us Krulls could be pretty darn weird right now, and in fact it is, but it is also pretty great.  There have been times during this last year that felt really lonely.  Friends and family, although they care, they haven't really been able to relate to the emotions and changes we  are facing.  It seems like during the past few weeks, God has really worked through people around us to remind us that He cares and loves us.
Last night we went to church for a reunion dinner for anyone who has ever traveled with The Grove to Haiti.  It was such a nice time, ending with people who care about Haiti, and about us, joining with us in prayer for the needs we have in the next couple of weeks before we move.  Noah's church class teachers (one of whom has traveled to Haiti), gave him the sweetest gift:  a soccer ball signed by all the kids in his class, to take with him to play with the kids at Good Neighbor Orphanage.  Noah has been reading, and re-reading all the names all day.  He has been talking for months about playing soccer with the other kids there, so this was the most thoughtful gift, just for our boy.

As an aside... when I asked Noah to pose for this photo, I took several.  When we were finished, he asked to look at them:

Noah:  "I want to approve which one you put on the internet."

Aw man, I just love this kid!

The Mitten

Like a swarm of locusts descending upon a field of plentiful crops, we swooped in to Michigan destroying everything in our paths.  Or maybe I should blame the children for the destruction part?  We came, we saw, we left a wake of empty refrigerators and slightly off center furniture arrangements.  Thanks family for hosting our wild bunch!

Mylie and her favorite cousin Jan

I think it's funny when babies hold babies.  Technically, Presley is a toddler, but still.

Pot, Meet Kettle

The following conversation was overhead from the front seat of the car...

Noah:  Mom, where'd you meet Dad?  LOOK!!  A MINIVAN!!  Did you know if a motorcycle had three wheels it would be a motor tricycle?  Ha.  That's funny.  Do they make candy canes in the summer?

Mylie:  DOLLAR!!!

Noah:  Why did you just yell 'Dollar'?  That had nothing to do with motorcycles.

Farewell Tour 2012

Coming to a city near you...

if you live in one of two places that is...

Our farewell tour to see friends and family before we move has begun.

Michigan (Detroit Metro area):  July 31-August 13
San Diego, California: August August 23-28

Gary will fit a quick trip to Haiti in between our two family trips to find a house to rent, then we'll be back in Arizona for the remainder of the time before we leave.  Depending on what Gary finds during his trip, we plan to make the move at the beginning of September.  Next month.  NEXT MONTH!

Holy cow.
